Giotto 1267–1337
Born in Vicchio Wikipedia in 31/32 languages
Giotto moved away from the rigid, flattened stylization that defined much of medieval art. His approach pointed toward the innovations of the Renaissance style, moving art toward a more naturalistic representation of the human experience. The way he used space and human emotion provided a blueprint for Masaccio and Michelangelo.
