Puolalais-juutalaisten maahanmuuttajavanhempiensa, Abraham ja Rebecca Bombergin, poika aloitti opintonsa City and Guilds Technical Art Schoolissa ennen kuin hän erikoistui litografiksi Birminghamissa.
