          nuoruus ja koulutus

          albert joseph moore, tämä arvostettu englantilainen maalaaja, syntyi 4. syyskuuta 1841 Yorkissa, Isossa-Britanniassa. Hän oli tunnetun muotokuvamaalari william mooren ja tämän toisen vaimon, sarah collinghamin, kolmastoista poika ja neljästoista lapsi. Useat hänen lukuisista veljistään kouluttuivat myös taiteilijoiksi, kuten merkittävä merimaalaaja henry moore, r.a. Albert sai koulutuksensa archbishop holgate's schoolissa ja st. peter's schoolissa Yorkissa, missä hän sai isältään opetusta sekä piirtämisessä että maalaamisessa.

          taiteellinen ura

          Mooren varhaiset teokset heijastavat ruskinin vaikutteita, ja jo vuonna 1857 hän oli näyttelynyt Royal Academiassa esitellen teoksensa a goldfinch ja a woodcock. Hänen taiteellinen tyylinsä kehittyi ajan myötä, ja 1860-luvulla hänen teoksistaan alkoi erottua selkeä uusklassinen luonne. Tänä aikana moore suunnitteli muun muassa laattoja, tapetteja ja lasimaalauksia morris, marshall, faulkner and co:lle, sekä työskenteli kirkollisten ja kotimaisten seinämuraalien maalaajana.
