Cello that belonged to the Portuguese cellist Guilhermina Suggia (1885-1950), one of the first women to pursue a professional career playing cello. Suggia inherited this cello from her father, Augusto Suggia, who was a cellist at the Real Teatro de São Carlos and a teacher of the Conservatory of Music of Lisbon.
