Portrait of Prof WL Nkuhlu by the South African artist, Cyril Coetzee . Prof Wiseman Lumkile Nkuhlu (b. 1944) is the Chancellor of the University of Pretoria and his tenure began in 2007. The official collecting of portraits and the foundation of the Collection began on 9 September 1974. Prof A.N. Pelzer suggested that the University commenced a collection of portraits of previous Chancellors, Chairs of the Council and Principals. Between 1974 and 2010 the line-up of former Principals and Chancellors were completed, a tradition that is still continuing with new appointments within the University of Pretoria. Short Biography: Cyril Coetzee was born in 1959 in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. He studied at Rhodes University and obtained his Masters qualification in 1983.
