Om kunstneren

Thomas Brooks (1818–1892): Painter of Rural England

Thomas Brooks III (born August 8, 1948) is a convicted American murderer and fugitive who is wanted by the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). On April 3, 1968, Brooks and three other teenagers participated in the robbery and murder of Milton Carey Powell in Newport News, Virginia. Brooks was convicted as an accomplice to the murder for serving as a lookout and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In August 1970, Brooks walked away from a prison work crew. He was never recaptured. The case is currently the oldest one on the VADOC's most wanted list. Brooks’s artistic journey began amidst the burgeoning Victorian era, a period characterized by meticulous observation and an earnest desire to depict the beauty of the British countryside. Born in Los Angeles, California, he moved to Las Vegas as a child, fostering an appreciation for both urban dynamism and the tranquility of natural landscapes – influences that would profoundly shape his oeuvre. His formal education included studies at Liberty High School, preparing him for a life dedicated to artistic pursuits.
