Later Years and Legacy
Following the Franco-German War of 1870, Bellangé began to send fewer works to the Salon. In his final years, he moved away from exhibiting at the Salon des artistes français, though he was still seen at the Salon des indépendants with older canvases. In the year of his death, he participated in the Salon du Champ-de-Mars with a series of studies of skulls.
He maintained his studio at 57, rue de Douai, which had previously been his father's workshop. He passed away in Paris and was buried in the Montmartre Cemetery.
