A pivotal relationship emerged between Lucas and Jacob Thompson, fellow Quaker artist based in Penrith. Their collaboration centered on ambitious landscape commissions undertaken beneath the burgeoning Haweswater Reservoir in Cumbria. This partnership exemplifies the spirit of camaraderie within the artistic community of Victorian Britain, fostering mutual inspiration and pushing creative boundaries.
Lucas’s artistic style is characterized by a blend of Romantic idealism and Impressionistic sensitivity.
