          Lu Shen (1935-2004) was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. In 1951, he entered Soochow Meizhuan. In 1953, he was admitted to the Department of Chinese Painting of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He was taught by Ye Shaoyu, Jiang Zhaohe, Li Keran, Liu Lingcang and so on. After graduation, he remained in school to teach. In 1987, he was invited to attend the Paris Academy of Fine Arts as a visiting professor to teach Chinese painting and calligraphy; in 1990 and 1994, he went to the United States and Australia to lecture, and held a joint exhibition with Zhou Sicong at Lindsia Cultural Center. In 1995, an ink figure painting exhibition was held in Singapore
