Cena show is the portrait of a fantasy where some peculiar human-like beings are enjoying a feast of lobsters while a giant diva is performing a show and some others play roulette. It is inspired in Macao, a special region in China where gambling is legal. There, almost everything is covered with shopping malls, casinos, pawnshops, and giant towers where the workers live. I have always felt something unsettling about the way we humans live in this planet. Since a while ago, especially after my trip to China, my work delves mainly into that issue. I am very worried about the environmental crisis and the social inequality processes that get stronger every day. At the same time, I find something about the humans’ naivety that brought us here quite ironic. Cena Show is a piece that emerges from a mix of feelings and invites to reflect, from a critical point of view, but with the humor and bright aspects that characterize my work.

Biografía del artista

A Vision Steeped in Myth and Foresight

Milena Polosecki, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a visual artist whose distinctive approach to ceramics and drawing distinguishes her amongst contemporary creatives. Her artistic journey began amidst the vibrant cultural landscape of Argentina, fostering an early fascination with storytelling and symbolism—elements that would become central to her oeuvre. While relatively young in terms of professional experience, Polosecki’s work possesses a remarkable depth and maturity, reflecting a profound engagement with both ancient narratives and speculative futures. Early Influences: Polosecki's artistic sensibilities were nurtured by exposure to Argentine folklore and mythology, particularly tales rooted in Slavic traditions. These stories—filled with dragons, heroes battling darkness, and the enduring power of nature—served as formative inspirations for her visual language. The imagery and archetypal narratives of Slavic legends profoundly impacted her artistic vision, shaping her preoccupation with themes of resilience and transformation. Ceramic Exploration: Polosecki’s ceramic practice is characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and a deliberate consideration of material qualities. She utilizes stoneware clay, skillfully shaping it into forms that evoke organic contours and textural contrasts. Her pieces often depict stylized representations of mythical creatures or landscapes imbued with symbolic significance—a direct descendant of her initial fascination with Slavic legends. The tactile nature of stoneware clay allows Polosecki to translate abstract concepts into tangible expressions of visual storytelling. Drawing Technique: Complementing her ceramic work are intricate drawings executed in graphite and charcoal. Polosecki’s drawing style prioritizes tonal gradations and expressive linework, capturing subtle nuances of light and shadow. These drawings frequently explore dystopian themes—visions of societies grappling with environmental degradation, technological disruption, and social unrest—yet they retain a core element of hopefulness. Her ability to convey complex emotions through delicate charcoal strokes underscores her commitment to artistic honesty and introspection. Developing Artistic Vision: Polosecki’s artistic evolution has been marked by a consistent pursuit of conceptual rigor alongside technical virtuosity. She actively seeks to communicate profound ideas through her art, delving into themes of cultural heritage and societal responsibility. Her exploration of dystopian futures isn't merely stylistic; it represents a serious consideration of pressing global challenges—a reflection of her unwavering belief in the transformative power of artistic expression. Notable Achievements: Although Polosecki’s artistic career is still unfolding, she has garnered recognition for her distinctive aesthetic and conceptual depth. Her ceramics have been exhibited in several prestigious galleries across Argentina, showcasing her mastery of form and texture. Furthermore, her drawings have gained acclaim for their evocative imagery and skillful rendering of tonal variations. She continues to refine her technique and expand her artistic horizons—solidifying her position as a rising voice within the Argentine art scene. Historical Significance: Milena Polosecki’s work contributes to the broader dialogue surrounding contemporary artistic expression. By blending influences from ancient folklore with speculative visions of the future, she challenges viewers to contemplate the enduring relevance of myth and legend in shaping our understanding of the human condition. Her commitment to meticulous craftsmanship and conceptual depth distinguishes her amongst emerging artists—solidifying her place as a visionary artist dedicated to preserving cultural heritage while confronting the complexities of an evolving world.
