He was not alone in his pursuit of the arts; his brother, Jean-Jacques Flipart, also followed a path in engraving . As he matured, his interests expanded beyond the confines of his father's workshop. Seeking a broader understanding of color and composition, he traveled to Venice. This period of study allowed him to observe the masters of the Venetian style firsthand. While in Venice, he studied painting under Tiepolo and Amigoni, absorbing their approaches to light and form. These portraits remain central to his legacy, reflecting the prestige he earned after his appointment by King Ferdinand VI.
