Michelle Stuart is an American multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses sculpture, painting, land art, and environmental art. Born in California, she studied at the Chouinard Art Institute and worked as a topological draftsperson. Her early professional experience included serving as a studio assistant to Diego Rivera in Mexico around 1951. After living in Paris for three years, she moved to New York, where she has resided since 1957. Her diverse body of work includes:
