Philipp Peter Roos, later known as Rosa di Tivoli, stands as a fascinating figure in the artistic landscape of Baroque Italy – specifically within the vibrant milieu of Tivoli and Rome. Born in Frankfurt am Main around 1655, Roos embarked on an artistic journey shaped by familial influence and propelled forward by patronage, ultimately achieving renown for his distinctive style: Italianate landscapes populated with meticulously rendered animals.
