Studio Interior
Størrelse på reproduktion
Edward Loyal Fields painted Studio Interior about 1884. This work captures a quiet, domestic scene within a room. A man wearing a cap sits reading near a stove, absorbed in his book. Behind him, several canvases are displayed on the wall, suggesting the space functions as an artist's workspace or a shared studio environment.
The composition focuses on this solitary moment of study. The presence of the canvases against the wall provides a backdrop of creative activity, contrasting with the stillness of the seated figure. The arrangement of the room creates a sense of a peaceful, lived-in interior.
A man wearing a cap sits in a chair, absorbed in a book. He is positioned near a stove, which anchors the quiet scene. The room is populated by several other chairs; some are placed against the walls, while others are scattered closer to the center of the space. To the right, a dining table occupies the corner, topped with a single bowl.
The arrangement of furniture and the presence of canvases displayed on the wall behind the seated figure suggest a lived-in, functional space. The composition creates a sense of stillness. The interior environment appears cozy and comfortable, capturing a private moment of reading amidst the domestic objects of the room.
This panel originated from the Pension Gloanec in Pont-Aven. During this period, the walls of the establishment's dining room were decorated with various painted panels. These works were presented as gifts by artists to Marie-Jeanne Gloanec (1839–1915).
Following its time in the hotel, the panel remained within the hotelier family. It was passed down through successive generations of the family until its eventual acquisition by the Museum.
