Indtast den bredde og højde, du har brug for, så det passer til din ramme eller din væg. Et print kan kun beskæres, aldrig gøres større end selve billedet, så en størrelse med et andet format vil medføre, at dele af motivet går tabt. The atelier
Størrelse på reproduktion
The atelier is a painting by the Belgian artist Alfred Stevens. Born in 1823, Stevens established a significant presence in the nineteenth-century art world before his death in 1906.
The work belongs to the tradition of fine art painting, reflecting the technical precision associated with Stevens's career. His background and training informed the execution of this piece, which captures a specific interior setting through a naturalistic lens.
Three women occupy a furnished interior, arranged in a composition of seated and standing figures. Two women are positioned on couches, one located on the left and another toward the right side of the room. A third woman stands near the center of the scene. A chair is placed between the two couches, creating a structured arrangement of seating within the space.
The domestic setting includes several specific objects that ground the scene. A dog is situated on the left side of the image, positioned near the bottom edge. On the wall above the couches, a clock is mounted, marking the passage of time within the room. Two books are visible, one placed near the center-left area and the other toward the right side.
The artist's exploration of interior spaces and social intimacy is reflected in several other compositions. In the Studio and L'atelier both examine the atmosphere of the creative workspace, focusing on the interaction between subjects within a studio setting. These works share a preoccupation with the placement of figures and the quietude of private environments. Similarly, Visit to the Studio and The Visit investigate the dynamics of social encounters, often utilizing light and shadow to define the boundaries between public presentation and private life.
Beyond these domestic and professional interiors, Stevens addressed different subject matters and stylistic approaches. Femme à la poupée japonaise demonstrates an interest in the integration of specific cultural objects within a portrait. In a departure from these figurative scenes, Moonlit seascape focuses on the natural world, applying his technical precision to the depiction of light upon the water.
