A German lieutenant colonel on the General Staff, Boehmer was not merely a witness to the tumultuous era of the mid-20th century but an active participant in one of history's most significant acts of resistance. As a member of the Infantry Regiment 9 (I.R. 9) from Potsdam, he found himself embedded within a circle of conspirators, including Major General Henning von Tresckow and Fritz-Dietlof von der Schulenburg. This regiment became a crucible for dissent, supplying more participants for the 20 July Plot—the courageous attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler—than any other unit in the Wehrmacht. Boehmer’s role as a liaison officer in the Defence District XX near Danzig placed him at the heart of this clandestine struggle, weaving his personal fate into the very fabric of Germany's political upheaval.
