Life and Artistic Career
Paul Keck was a German painter born in Überlingen. He studied at the art academy in Munich starting in 1926, where he completed a master's examination as a decorative painter. Following a brief stay in Paris, he returned to the Allgäu region around 1929/30. During this time, he managed his family's inn while establishing himself as a successful local artist. His work included a variety of murals, ceiling paintings, and frescoes, many of which were documented in his meticulous records of commissions.
In 1943, he participated in the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich with his work Der Brief nach dem Osten. After the end of the Third Reich, Keck faced a one-year ban on painting in 1945, but he continued his artistic activities afterward. His extensive body of work includes numerous religious and secular decorations, such as the paintings in the St. Peter and Paul Church in Lindenberg im Allgäu, which he executed between 1960 and 1961.

His decorative projects often involved frescoes and sgraffito, appearing on the facades of houses, in taverns, and within public buildings like schools and fire stations. His work in the St. Peter and Paul Church featured medallions of the four Evangelists, the four Church Fathers, and scenes from the lives of Peter and Paul.
