The Life and Artistic Evolution of Bertold Haag

Born in Mannheim, Germany, Bertold Haag was a painter who underwent a significant stylistic transformation throughout his career. Following his service as a soldier in World War II, where he was wounded and held in Soviet captivity, Haag returned to Berlin. In the post-war years, he became deeply involved in the city's cultural life, helping to organize exhibitions and participating in numerous shows throughout Berlin. By 1955, while working from an atelier in Grunewald, he turned definitively toward abstract painting.
