1912 · Tuval Üzerine Yağlı Boya · Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia

Fountain

1917 · Seramik · Tate Modern, Londra

Acrylic On Canvas

Marcel Duchamp's 1917 work, *Fountain*, is arguably one of the most significant and controversial artworks of the 20th century. More than just a porcelain urinal signed “R. Mutt,” it represents a radical challenge to traditional definitions of art itself. This piece isn’t about aesthetic beauty in the conventional sense; instead, Duchamp forces us to confront questions surrounding artistic creation, authorship, and the very nature of what qualifies as art.

About Marcel Duchamp

New York'un Radikal Yılları

İşte bu dinamik ortamın içinde, New York proto-Dada hareketinin merkezi figürlerinden biri haline geldi.

Amerikan coğrafyasıyla olan bağı, geçen on yıllar boyunca derinleşerek devam etti.

1912 yılında, bir figürün mekanik hareketini üst üste binen, iç içe geçmiş yüzeyler aracılığıyla yakalayan Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2 adlı eseriyle bu dönüşümü somutlaştırdı.

Görsel sonuç yerine fikri önceleyerek, 20. yüzyılın ilk on yıllarında plastik sanatların izlediği rotayı kökten değiştirdi.

Marcel Duchamp'ın o durmak bilmeyen entelektüel izlerini sürmek isteyenler, rotalarını Philadelphia Museum of Art'a çevirebilirler.
