Stuart Davis: Amerikan Modernizminin Öncüsü 7 Aralık 1892’de Philadelphia’da doğan Stuart Davis, genç yaşından itibaren sanatsal bir ortamın içinde büyüdü. Babası Edward Wyatt Davis, Philadelphia Press gazetesinin sanat editörüydü; annesi Helen Stuart Davis ise heykeltıraştı. Bu ailevi geçmiş, görsel sanatlara olan erken ilgisini şüphesiz teşvik etti.
