He became a regular presence at the Società Veneta Promotrice di Belle Arti, where his canvases began to win hearts and critical acclaim. The year 1886 stands as a bittersweet milestone in his career; his masterpiece, Pescheria a Rialto, a vivid and sensory depiction of the famous fish market, earned him the prestigious Prince Umberto Prize. However, the complexities of imperial politics intervened, and due to his non-Italian nationality, the award was tragically rescinded, a moment that serves as a poignant reminder of the bureaucratic shadows that often loomed over the Belle Époque.
As his career progressed, Barison’s technique underwent a fascinating evolution.
