His formative years were spent amidst the parishes and congregations of Carpentras, where he developed a meticulous eye for detail while capturing religious narratives with a precision that hinted at his future mastery. It was during this period that he collaborated with Joseph Duplessis, contributing to the delicate art decorations within the pharmacy of the Hôtel-Dieu of Carpentras, a task that required both technical skill and an understanding of how art integrates into functional, sacred spaces.
The year 1736 marked a pivotal transformation in Peyrotte’s destiny as he relocated to Paris, the beating heart of the European artistic avant-garde. In the bustling atmosphere of the capital, his talents transcended regional religious commissions to embrace the opulent demands of the French monarchy. He quickly ascended the ranks of the decorative arts, securing prestigious contracts that would place his brushwork within the very halls of power. His work for Louis XV and Marie Antoinette at Versailles in 1738 and 1747 remains a testament to his ability to translate royal grandeur into visual splendor, crafting interiors that breathed with the light and luxury of the Rococo era.
