Born in Larnaca, Stelios Votsis was a Cypriot artist who emerged as a leading figure of modern art on the island. Upon returning to Cyprus in 1955, Votsis co-founded the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts, serving as its president at one time. His artistic style was best characterized as structural abstraction, expressed through both painting and drawing.
