He was a member of the Hollerbach painters' colony and was associated with the artist group in Baden-Baden. He spent time in various locations, including Switzerland, Italy, and France, which provided diverse settings for his studies. In 1928, he published a book titled Baden-Baden in hundert Zeichnungen, which featured illustrations of the life and landscapes of the region. Despite facing financial difficulties and the challenges of the Weimar Republic, he remained a dedicated figure in the local art scene, eventually returning to his birthplace of Mudau.
His artistic output included a vast array of works, with some estimates suggesting he produced over 900 paintings and graphic works. His legacy is preserved through several collections and the naming of streets and paths in his honor in his home region.
