The Artist and His Style

Leatherstocking's Rescue.
Key Features of the Painting The painting depicts a scene from Cooper's novel, where the protagonist Leatherstocking rescues two women from a panther's attack. The focus is on the fainting, terrified, and "civilized" women, rather than on Leatherstocking himself.
