Moritz Melzer was a German painter and graphic artist associated with the Expressionism movement. Born in Bělá u Jevíčka, Czech Republic, his early career began as a porcelain painter before he transitioned into formal art education. Between 1906 and 1908, he studied at the art academy in Weimar under Ludwig von Hofmann. Following his move to Berlin in 1908, he became an active participant in the city's art scene, exhibiting with the Berlin Secession in 1909.
