Born amidst the ancient echoes of Aleppo, Fateh al-Moudarres began his artistic journey with a disciplined eye for realism, yet his spirit yearned for a more profound liberation. It was within the hallowed halls of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, between 1954 and 1960, that his creative identity truly ignited. During this formative period, the dreamlike currents of Surrealism swept through his practice, dismantling the rigid boundaries of representational art.
