Key Works and Artistic Contributions

Versfelt’s legacy is anchored by his 1845 oil painting on canvas, a portrait of Cornelis van Spaendonck. In this work, he turned his attention to the life and presence of the Dutch artist who had passed away some years prior. The portrait captures the likeness of Spaendonck, focusing on the man's character and his place within the Dutch art tradition. It is a piece that reflects the quiet dignity of its subject.

This specific work is held in the Noordbrabants Museum.
