Barent (or Bernard) Pietersz Fabritius (16 November 1624 – 20 October 1673) was a significant, though relatively lesser-known, Dutch painter of the Baroque period. Fabritius primarily focused on biblical subjects—such as "The Presentation in the Temple" and "Abraham Dismissing Hagar and Ishmael"—mythological narratives, and historical scenes. However, he is particularly celebrated for his portraits, which capture a remarkable sense of individuality and psychological insight. His style is characterized by:

Barent Fabritius’s contribution to Dutch Golden Age painting lies in his ability to synthesize the influence of Rembrandt with a distinct personal style.
