The Life and Activism of Charles Thomson
Born in Romford, United Kingdom, Charles Thomson is an English artist, poet, and photographer. In the early 1980s, he was a member of The Medway Poets, a punk performance group. In 1999, he co-founded the Stuckism art movement alongside Billy Childish. His career has been marked by significant public engagement, including standing as a candidate in the 2001 United Kingdom general election and reporting Charles Saatchi to the Office of Fair Trading. Thomson also opened the Stuckist International Gallery in Shoreditch between 2002 and 2005. His work has been involved in various exhibitions, including the 2004 Liverpool Biennial and the 2006 Go West show at Spectrum London gallery.
