Born in Toulouse, France, André Lèbre was a painter who spent his entire life within the confines of his home city. During this time, he was occupied with painting arabesques and foliage under floors, a task that served to stifle his burgeoning talent rather than nurture it. Despite these early hardships, he dedicated himself to the study of art, practicing his craft through constant sketching and the composition of various historical subjects. Lèbre's technical development was aided by the guidance of François Colombe du Lys and the opening of a workshop by Antoine Durand.
