František Vojáček was a Czech painter, illustrator, draftsman, and ceramicist. His artistic education was extensive, spanning studies at the private art school of Karel Reisner, the ceramic school in Bechany, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Vojáček’s life was deeply intertwined with the turbulent history of the mid-twentieth century. During the occupation, he and his wife, Olga, participated in the anti-fascist resistance. Following their arrest by the Gestapo, he was imprisoned in the Terezín fortress before being deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he died.
In the aftermath of the war, his work was honored through a posthumous exhibition organized by the Mánes Association of Fine Artists in 1949.
