Angkor Wat is a Hindu temple complex built during the first half of the 12th Century by the Khmer Empire in what is now Cambodia. Later, it was altered and used as a Buddhist temple, but during the civil war in 1972, Buddhist statues were beheaded and the temple grounds damaged.
