Born in Augsburg, Germany, Michael Maschka is a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and designer. His artistic path began with an early fascination with Renaissance and Baroque art during his childhood in Augsburg. After completing his education at the Staatliche Fachoberschule Augsburg, he moved to Berlin in 1983. Although he initially studied social pedagogy and practiced that profession until 1993, he continued to exhibit his works in both Augsburg and Berlin during that time.
A significant turning point in his career occurred in 1994 when he met the Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs, a founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Maschka served as Fuchs' assistant on various projects, including the Fuchs' church in Thal near Graz. His involvement in the art world also includes being a member of the group "Dali's heirs" until 2014 and acting as a founder of Labyrinthe, an association for Phantastic and Visionary Arts.

As a representative of Fantastic Realism, Maschka utilizes a realistic formal approach influenced by the meticulous techniques of the Old Masters. His work seeks to present the invisible structures of a spiritual reality through the vocabulary of visible reality. He often employs motifs from German and Greek Mythology, utilizing these archetypes to explore themes of destruction and renewal within nature and mankind.
In his paintings, the motif of nudity is used as a symbol for naturalness and vulnerability rather than sexuality. He frequently depicts the female figure as the anima, representing the unconscious side of the male soul.
