The Life and Art of Ramah
Born in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Belgium, the artist known by the pseudonym Ramah was a self-taught painter and author. Originally named Henri-François Raemaeker, he began his artistic journey as an aquafortist at the circle Le Sillon in 1909. His early career included significant illustrative work, such as creating fifteen etchings for a bibliophilic edition of Emile Verhaeren's Villages illusoires in 1913, and illustrating Charles De Coster's Ulenspiegel the following year.
Throughout his career, Ramah focused primarily on painting landscapes and portraits. He was a member of the Cercle des IX, joining the group in 1926 alongside several other notable artists.
