John Maxwell (1905-1962): A Visionary of Colour and Form

However, Maxwell's aesthetic sensibilities extended beyond mere stylistic imitation; he drew inspiration from the Surrealists Pablo Picasso and André Breton, particularly Klee’s geometric abstraction and Chagall’s dreamlike imagery.
