The image shows two simplified full silhouettes of Katarzyna Kobro on a dark flat background – standing at the ironing board, struggling to iron her sculpture Abstract Composition (1) from around 1924, which is in the collection of the Museum of Art in Łódź. On the left side there is an inscription “K./KOBRO/PRA-/SUJĄCA”. The canvas covered with three primary colours (red of the turned back silhouette in the foreground, yellow lines and stains, and a residual amount of blue around the letters), with a large black-and-white plane. The synthetic and loose style of painting distances itself from aesthetic colouristic refinement, while text and image equalization, visual quotes and narration – the presentation of two different phases of activity – highlights the post-modern affiliation of Sobczyk’s work.
