A Life Between Madrid and Barcelona
The life of Maria de la Visitació Ubach Pérez began in Madrid in 1850. Though her roots were in the Spanish capital, her path eventually led her to the bustling streets of Barcelona. She lived in the elegant Passeig de Gràcia, a place that reflected the changing social landscape of the late nineteenth century. Her existence was marked by a quiet strength, navigating the roles of a wife to an infantry colonel, Francisco Javier Osés Ezterripa, and a mother to her daughter, Maria de la Visitació.
Her artistic development was shaped by the guidance of Francesc Miralles i Galaup. Under his tutelage, she refined her ability to translate the world onto canvas. She was a woman of her time, participating in official exhibitions that allowed her work to be seen by the public. Her presence in the art circles of Barcelona was a steady one, even as she balanced the private responsibilities of her household.

She passed away in La Garriga in 1925. Her legacy is found in the surviving pieces that survived the passage of time, offering a glimpse into the perspective of a woman who dedicated herself to the craft of painting during a transformative era in Spanish history.
