Founded in 1873 on Breedstraat, its journey through architectural shifts—a move to Doelenstraat in 1968 and finally settling into its current Canadaplein location in 2000—reflects Alkmaar's own evolution as a vibrant urban center. Architectural Significance: The museum’s building, designed by Mecanoo Architects, stands as an impressive example of contemporary architecture.
