Jon Riis is a tapestry artist exploring the history of human civilization. Amazingly, all her diverse patterns, intricate forms, and rich colors are handmade by weaving threads. Painterly realism and refined design elements are interwoven through insight, intuition and technique into cultural history. Riis finds her subject matter from diverse cultural products and sophisticatedly reinterprets them in her artwork. The red tapestry in a kimono shape represents man’s muscle.
