This formative period at the Académie des Beaux-Arts under Gerome instilled him with foundational skills while simultaneously exposing him to the revolutionary ideas circulating within the artistic community.

Early Years & Education: Barrau’s initial studies in Barcelona provided a grounding in classical art, followed by intensive instruction in Madrid where he absorbed the stylistic nuances of Spanish masters like Velázquez and Zurbarán.
