Salvator Rosa (1615 – 1673) Salvator Rosa, en italiensk barok kunstner, digter og trykkemester, blev født i Arenella nær Napoli omkring juni 20 eller juli 21, 1615. Hans mor, Giulia Greca Rosa, var medlem af én af Siciliens griechiske familier. På trods af hans fars ønsker om at han skulle blive jurist eller præst, viste Salvator fra en tidlig alder en forkærlighed for kunsten og nægtede at være bundet af nogen bestemt stil eller bevægelse.
