Beskrivelse af samlerobjektet

In 2009 Linas Jusionis painted the Horizon in which one can see the angle of a fence at a very close distance. Through the crack of the fence green grass and blue pool water is seen. But in order to see it the spectator must make some endeavor, because white planes of the fence hinder the full view. A part of it can only be imagined. It actually annoys the spectator and makes him even more intrigued. It seems as if something important is about to take place behind the fence. The same can be said about mystery movies. Do you feel as if you are observing a strangers yard when you stand in front of the painting? It is because you are standing on this side of the fence, but implicit action takes place on the other side. This painting creates a situation, in which a viewer feels himself in the role of observer. The artist plays by deliberately creating the tension between something that is portrayed and something that is left “behind the frame”. Linas Jusionis says: “I am fascinated by the relation between objective depiction and narrative that is left behind the frame. In the case of painting it is outside the painting frames.” In the works of Jusionis there are no references to social or political planes, he shows no interest to discuss human existence and its problems. Therefore it would be a mistake to look for daily realia. His attention is focused on the spectator’s ability out of several drawn hints to create his very own story of a painting. Linas Jusionis (born in 1986) – the new generation painter, became well-known only around 2010. His creation was influenced by the pools and meadows painted in the sixties by British pop artist David Hockney and the abstract building fragments portrayed by German painter Eberhard Havekost in the nineties.

Linas Jusionis: A Lithuanian Visionary of Abstract Art

Linas Jusionis (born 1986 in Vilnius, Lithuania) is a contemporary Lithuanian painter rapidly gaining recognition for his distinctive blend of abstract expressionism and architectural influences. He currently resides and works in Vilnius, continuing to develop his unique artistic voice.

Early Life, Education, and Emerging Style

Born into an artistic family, Jusionis was immersed in the world of art from a young age, fostering a deep appreciation for creative expression. He pursued formal training at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where he honed his technical skills and explored various artistic approaches. Initially influenced by the Constructivist movement—characterized by its geometric forms and industrial aesthetic—Jusionis soon began to forge his own path. His early works demonstrated an interest in structure and form, but gradually evolved towards a more fluid and expressive style.

Artistic Style and Influences

Jusionis's artistic signature lies in the compelling juxtaposition of urban landscapes and architectural elements with expansive fields of color and geometric shapes. His paintings are characterized by bold brushstrokes, vibrant palettes, and a dynamic interplay between abstraction and representation. While his works often feature abstract forms, they retain a sense of recognizable space and depth, hinting at familiar structures and environments.

  • Key Characteristics: Bold brushwork, vibrant color fields, geometric shapes, architectural references, dynamic composition.
  • Influences: Cubism's exploration of fragmented perspectives and Abstract Expressionism’s emphasis on emotional expression are evident in his work. He also draws inspiration from the urban environment around him.
