The Life of André Brouillet
André Brouillet was a French academic painter who specialized in landscapes, portraits, and genre painting. Born in Charroux to sculptor Pierre-Amédée Brouillet and Élisabeth Leriget, he initially pursued engineering studies at the École centrale Paris starting in 1876. His work included portraits of various personalities, such as Joseph Babinski, and notable compositions like A Clinical Lesson at the Salpêtrière, which depicts neurologist Jean Martin Charcot examining a patient with several students and collaborators present. He also produced illustrations for several literary works between 1883 and 1903.
