From early explorations with Seattle Repertory Theatre and Seattle Public Theater to collaborations with Penguin Productions, Bestock honed her craft as an actor, immersing herself in diverse narratives and honing her skills of observation and performance. These experiences instilled within her a deep appreciation for storytelling—its ability to illuminate human experience and inspire empathy—a perspective that would later inform her work as an artist-in-residence and educational leader. She performed extensively in Seattle productions including *The Best Christmas Pageant Ever*, *Our Town* at the Seattle Rep — where she worked with Dan Sullivan, and *The Secret Garden* at SCT. However, it was her unwavering dedication to education that truly cemented her path. Recognizing the inherent potential within students – their curiosity, empathy, and capacity for imagination – she strives to unlock this potential through thoughtfully designed programs that prioritize inclusivity, fun, and unwavering faith in success. Her belief is that building a strong artistic foundation is inextricably connected to building a strong individual, community, and citizenry. She finds power in strong rhythm, complex characters, and juicy text; stories that allow us to feel more deeply, to reflect honestly on ourselves and community; stories that challenge our expectations and allow us to dream; stories that spark a connection and inspire action. Her work as an artist-in-residence extends far beyond the classroom walls. Partnering with organizations dedicated to sustainable development globally, Bestock leverages her artistic sensibilities to address pressing social issues. She champions youth ownership and access to resources, crafting experiences that empower young people to become active participants in shaping their communities and advocating for environmental justice. This commitment reflects a lifelong fascination with multicultural connections and cross-sector partnerships—a testament to her belief that art can serve as a powerful tool for positive transformation.
