However, Maxwell's aesthetic sensibilities extended beyond mere stylistic imitation; he drew inspiration from the Surrealists Pablo Picasso and André Breton, particularly Klee’s geometric abstraction and Chagall’s dreamlike imagery. These influences fostered a unique approach to depicting landscapes and interiors—a lyrical exploration of light, texture, and emotion.
