Following the war, he dedicated himself to painting and moved to Montparnasse, Paris, in 1949 – a pivotal decision that shaped his artistic trajectory.
He formally studied art at the Art Center School in Los Angeles and later at the prestigious Académie Julian in Paris from 1949 to 1951, honing his skills and developing his aesthetic vision.
Early Inspiration: Levee’s early work was profoundly influenced by the burgeoning New York School of Abstract Expressionism. He drew inspiration from masters like Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Ad Reinhardt, Willem de Kooning, and Philip Guston.
