The Architect of Texture
Born in 1967 and currently based in the vibrant cultural landscape of Lyon, David Moreau has established himself as a profound contemporary visionary. His practice is defined by an unwavering commitment to the physical essence of medium, where he meticulously builds dense, tactile surfaces through complex material layering. By treating the canvas not merely as a plane but as a sculptural site, Moreau creates a dialogue between eras, bridging the gap between classical European traditions and the raw, visceral energy of modern abstraction.
A Mastery of Materiality
At the heart of Moreau's oeuvre lies his specialization in Plaster & Texture Art. His technique involves an intentional accumulation of physical matter, creating a landscape of ridges, valleys, and shadows that respond dynamically to light. This focus on chromatic harmony and structural depth ensures that each piece possesses a luminous depth that transcends the two-dimensional. Every stroke is an exploration of weight and resistance, resulting in works that invite a sensory engagement far beyond the visual spectrum.
