He sits under the instruction of Joseph Paelinck and Florent Willems, absorbing the technical rigors of his craft. By 1827, his hands are already busy with the first attempts at lithography. The medium offers a new way to capture faces. In 1833, the magazine L'Artiste brings his portraits to a

wider audience. His reputation grows through the precise reproduction of features. The work expands into collaborative efforts. Between 1835 and 1842, Baugniet works alongside Louis Huard.
