İmparatorluk ihtişamı ve sanatsal mirasla harmanlanmış bir şehir olan Saint Petersburg, canlı kültürel dokusu içinde, Rus çağdaş sanat sahnesinin kısa sürede temel taşlarından biri haline gelen nispeten genç bir kuruma ev sahipliği yapıyor: Erarta Müzesi. 2010 yılında özel bir girişim olarak temelleri atılan Erarta, yalnızca modern eserlerin toplandığı bir depo değil; yaratıcılığın filizlendiği ve sanatsal sınırların sürekli yeniden tanımlandığı, sürükleyici bir deneyim ve dinamik bir merkezdir. Erarta'nın kapısından içeri adım atmak, çağdaş Rus ifadesinin enerjisiyle atan farklı bir aleme giriş yapmak gibidir.
Müzenin fiziksel yapısı, kendi başına yenilikçi ruhunu yansıtmaktadır. Aslen idari amaçlarla inşa edilen ve daha sonra bir araştırma enstitüsü olarak kullanılan Sovyet döneminden kalma eski bir binada yer alan Erarta, sergilediği sanatı tamamlayacak bir mekana düşünceli bir şekilde dönüştürülmüştür. Tasarımda doğal ışık ve açık alanlar ön planda tutularak, keşif ve tefekküre olanak tanıyan davetkar bir atmosfer yaratılmıştır.
